Manifestation tip 16: overcome information overload

Is the information you consume each day instrumental in pushing you forward? If not, this is why you need to block it.

How much time do you spend each day following clickbait headlines, celebrity drama and fake news being radicalized in the media?

How much of this random information is actually helping you pursue your purpose, manifest your dreams and achieve your goals?

Would you be willing to go a month without reading mainstream news or scrolling through endless social media streams?

Are you open to being temporarily out-of-the-loop in order to give your brain a break from the myriad of messages that bombard it?

If this sounds like a difficult feat, then you are addicted to information and don't see how it's distracting you from focusing on what matters most.

Your mental capacity has limits which means your ability to process information is limited as well.

And if you can't process information, then you can't make sensible decisions nor act with intention.

A wealth of information creates a poverty of attention.
— Herbert A. Simon

You should be managing your attention like the scarce resource it is by being selective about the information you let penetrate your psyche.

In order to thrive, your mental energy must be allocated to things you feel empowered by, like your purpose, values, and other important personal commitments.

If you find information that’s within the scope of what you are devoted to, by all means consume it. But if it is not relevant, don't hesitate to disregard it.

Celebrity gossip adds zero value to your day-to-day, so you don’t have time to think about or talk about it. And, you certainly don’t have it in you to passionately debate every nuanced newsreel.

As much as you may like to, you can’t craft a thorough perspective nor take action on hundreds of sensational topics — all at one time.

You may find it easier to focus on what matters if your attention span wasn’t divided amongst so many things that don’t.

Putting your priorities into perspective helps you efficiently expend your brain power, increasing your ability to manifest the things that take precedence.
